ENID, Okla. — Funeral service for Harold C. Jones will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Alva Church of God. The Rev. Bob Brown and Chuck Lightfoot will officiate. Interment will be in Waynoka Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Harold C. Jones, a longtime resident and businessman of Alva, Okla., passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014. Harold was born Feb. 17, 1927, in Roosevelt, Calif., to John David (JD) Jones and Mary Elizabeth Brown Jones.

Harold entered the U.S. Army on Sept. 28, 1950. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 6, 1952.

Harold married Laura Jane Morris Achemire on Nov. 8, 1952, in Clayton N.M. They had two children: stepson, Roy Achemire, and daughter, Brenda Sue Jones Nusser.

Harold managed Ken’s Truck Stop, where Ampride is today, and then Ken’s Sport Shop. He owned the Western Motel for two years and an antique and used furniture store before retiring to full-time buying, repairing, selling and trading.

Harold enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and attending the school activities they were in.

Harold was proceeded in death by his wife, Laura Jane Jones; infant twin brother, Howard; mother, Mary Jones; father, J.D. Jones; sister, Nell Devereaux; and brother, J.D. Jones.

Harold is survived by his son, Roy Achemire and daughter, Brenda Nusser, seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
