Woodward, Okla. — Funeral services for Avis Rowena Baggett will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at the Waynoka First Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Newton officiating. Interment will be in the Waynoka Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka, LLC.
Avis Rowena Baggett, daughter of William Harvey and Maymie Etta (Shook) Russell, was born October 24, 1933, at Gracemont, Oklahoma, and passed away December 18, 2010, at Mooreland, Oklahoma, at the age of 77 years, 4 months, and 24 days.
Rowena attended school in Minco before graduating from Waynoka High School with the Class of 1951. She was united in marriage to Clyde Jaquith. They lived in Waynoka where she worked at the telephone company, First State Bank, and for many years as a clerk for the Santa Fe Railroad. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1987.
In 1989 she was united in marriage to Elmo D. Baggett at Waynoka. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Mooreland where made their home.
She was a member of the Waynoka First Baptist Church and attended the Baptist Church in Mooreland. She enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and her nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband, Clyde, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Duane Russell and Billy Russell.
Rowena is survived by two sons, Lynn Baggett of Mooreland and Doug Baggett of Bozeman, Montana; three daughters, Dena Williams and husband, Ronnie of Van Alstyne, Texas, Diane Adams and husband, John, of Plano, Texas, and Melanie Lemmon and husband, Denny, of McKinney, Texas; two sisters, Artie Daugherty and husband, Larry, of Seiling, and Melva Bay and husband, Harlan, of Enid, Oklahoma; other relatives and many friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Cal Farleys Boys Ranch.
