Waynoka Cemetery


Waynoka – The funeral for Eva May Hendrie, 97, will be 2 PM Thursday at First Christian Church. The Rev. David Shaw will officiate. Burial will be in Waynoka Cemetery. Arrangements are by Marshall Funeral Home.

She was born April 9, 1902, in Lusk, Wyoming, to William Sandford and Rose Clifton Legg and died Sunday, at October 24, 1999, at Waynoka Nursing Home.

She graduated from Anthony, Kansas, high school in 1920 and studied at Emporia Teachers College. On May 5, 1925, she married Charles Philmon Hendrie at Medford. They lived in Waynoka. She taught school for two years, and in 1947 established the Hendry Flower Shop in Waynoka. She sold the business in 1968. She was a member of Christian Church at Waynoka, Royal Neighbors and the Order of Eastern Star. She was a past matron.

Surviving are one son, William of San Jose, California; one granddaughter, Marian Hendrie Tankersley of Morgan Hill, California; and two great – grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 11, 1983, two brothers and one sister.
