Waynoka Cemetery


Enid, OK — A graveside service for Virgil Lee Hartley, 74, of Waynoka, will be 10 a.m. today, March 28, 2008, in Waynoka Municipal Cemetery. The Rev. David Shaw will officiate. Arrangements are by Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka, LLC.

He was born Oct. 24, 1933, in Waynoka to Verne Raymond and Ruth Cora Stevens Hartley and died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Share Medical Center, Alva.

He worked at Waynoka Co-op Elevator several years. He married Pearl Brennon July 6, 1955. He joined the Army, stationed for a time in Louisiana. He worked for various ranches throughout the Midwest. He married Rita Hobbs Aug. 15, 1984. They made their home in Paducah, Texas. He spent his retirement years in Elko, Nev., returning to Waynoka in Nov., 2006.

Surviving are two daughters, Lucinda of North Carolina and Kim Barnes of Fairview; three sisters, Nelta Coulter, Velma Sampson and Mildred Sampson, all of Waynoka; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home for funeral expenses.
