Brief Illness Fatal to Girl

Daughter of Camp Houston Family

January 30, 1931

Elwanda Irene Ferguson, eight – year – old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Ferguson, living a mile and one half northeast of Camp Houston, passed away suddenly at 8:15 PM Saturday at the family home.

She was stricken at 5 PM and died little more than three hours later. Acute intestinal indigestion was given as the cause of her death.

Funeral services were to be held at 2 PM today at Freedom with burial in the Waynoka Cemetery.

Fowitz Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

February 2, 1931

Elwanda Irene Ferguson, seven year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Ferguson passed away at the home of her parents Saturday evening after a short illness of three hours duration. The cause of her death was acute intestinal indigestion. Irene was born September 9, 1923 near Freedom and passed away the evening of January 31 at the age of seven years, four months and was greatly beloved by her schoolmates. Irene leaves to mourn, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Ferguson, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ferguson of Waynoka and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Phillips of Mooreland, Oklahoma. Several aunts and uncles and other relatives. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ at Freedom Monday afternoon and interment was in the Waynoka Cemetery.
