Marietta W. and Carl M. DYCHE

Waynoka Cemetery

January 19, 1922 - July 17, 2019

Marietta Mae West Dyche was born on January 19, 1922, to Percy and Nettie (Inman) West in her grandparents' home in Togo, OK. She grew up surrounded by many cousins, aunts, and uncles. She told stories of riding her horse to school at Togo with her sister Juanita.

She married Carl M. Dyche on November 22, 1939, in Fairview, OK. Marietta and Carl raised wheat and cattle on "The Farm" in the Gloss Mountains in Cheyenne Valley in Oklahoma. Marietta loved her "wonderful family" and the farm that she and Carl created together. To her, the most enjoyable thing she did was raise her two sons and be a good farmer's wife with love and faith. She also loved and cared for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marietta loved to decorate her home and had a great sense of style. She was always redecorating a room in their farmhouse. A great cook, she worked hard to feed her family and the harvest crew, and she changed her cooking habits when Carl needed a different, healthy diet.

Marietta's love for children guided her activities, and she volunteered time at the Cheyenne Valley Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent of the Youth throughout the years.

Marietta was a proud member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendents, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and Eastern Stars.

Marietta died peacefully on July 17, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Marietta is preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Nettie; husband, Carl; sister, Juanita Harmon; and daughter-in-law, Kathie Callaway Dyche.

She is survived by her son Delbert and his wife Susan of Lubbock, TX; her son Steven of Plano, TX; her granddaughter Lisa Morgan and husband Chris of Lubbock, TX; her granddaughter Kristin Calderon and her husband Andres of Nigeria, Africa; her granddaughter Cherilyn Dyche Diewald and husband Andy of Plano, TX; and her grandson the Rev. Bradley Dyche and husband Frank DeJesus of Stephenville, TX. She is also survived by great grandchildren: Ethan and Haylee Morgan, Isaiah and Marisela Calderon, Andrew Ricken, Jacob and Megan Diewald, and Sheridan Barry.

Visitation with the family present will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday evening at Pierce Funeral Home, 721 S. Main, Fairview.A service of Celebration and Thanksgiving for the life of Marietta Mae West Dyche will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 20th [sic, believe to be July 20], 2019 at Cheyenne Valley United Methodist Church with the Rev.
