Waynoka Cemetery

Friday's rainy weather is being blamed for a two – vehicle accident that killed a Waynoka couple. They were among nine people who died on state roads in weather – related accidents.

Marion E. Davison, 82, and his wife, Dorothy I. Davison, 68, were both pronounced dead at the scene in a two – vehicle accident on U. S. 281 two miles north of U. S. 412 in Major County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Five people in a Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad van were injured.

Joe Mayhew, 40, of Amarillo, Texas, and Jerry Salazar 33, of Pampa, Texas, were each listed in critical condition at Woodward Hospital.

Mayhew suffered injuries to his leg, arm and back.

Salazar suffered multiple rib injuries and a possible punctured lung.

Jesse Salvado Escencio, 38, of Amarillo; Toby Davenport, 28, of Lubbock, Texas; and Thomas Ferguson, 53, of Clovis, New Mexico, also were admitted to Woodward Hospital. They were listed in stable condition.

According to the OHP, the accident occurred when the car driven by Davison went out of control on a slick highway and was struck head – on by the van. The Davisons were pinned in the wreckage for an hour. The driver of the van was trapped for 30 minutes.

All van occupants wore their seatbelts.

Waynoka – The funeral for Dorothy Irene Davison, 68, will be 2 PM Tuesday at Waynoka First Baptist Church. The Rev. David Shaw will officiate. Burial will be in Waynoka Cemetery. Arrangements are by Marshall Funeral Home. Friends may call until noon Tuesday at the funeral home. The casket will remain closed at the service.

She was born November 26, 1930, in Greeley, Colorado, to Peter S. Bowmaker and Seenith Dustin Bowmaker Boland and died Friday, March 12, 1999, due to an automobile accident south of Waynoka.

On March 30, 1960, she married Marion Eber Davison at Amarillo, Texas. They lived in Waynoka where she operated Gooseberry Patch restaurant. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Surviving are one son, Michael of San Antonio; one daughter, Diana Lynn Williams of Bailey, Colorado; two sisters, Laura M. Hawkins of Waynoka and Anna B. Gonzalez of Loveland, Colorado; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Waynoka Emergency Medical Technicians.

On March 30, 1960, he married Dorothy Irene Bowmaker at Amarillo, Texas. He was retired from the city of Waynoka, where he served as sexton of the cemetery for many years. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Surviving are one son, Michael of San Antonio; one daughter, Diana Lynn Williams of Bailey, Colorado; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Emergency Medical Technicians of Waynoka.
