Charles Ellsworth Newton

Charles E. Newton, 73, Waynoka, died in a Woodward hospital Tuesday afternoon. Although he had been in ill health for some time death followed a stroke on Monday night.
Newton retired farmer and rancher, lived in the Helena community before moving to a ranch southeast of Waynoka and later moved to Waynoka.
He was a member of the Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include his widow Jennie of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Clifford Oringderff, Enid; Mrs. Eldon Dyer, Ringwood; Mrs. Ann Hague, Woodward and Mrs. Merton Roberts, Quinlan; two sons and one stepson, James Newton, Anthon;y, Kans., Charles E. Newton, Jr. and Wilbur Lee Melrose, Waynoka and one brother, Carl F. Newton; and 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife and two sons.
Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Waynoka with Rev. Harold Corral, Hardin, MO., officiating. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery in Helena under the direction of Marashall-Mason Funeral Home, Waynoka.
