ENID — Ruby Lou Conaway was born June 4, 1924, to Geoffrey and Mary “Ruth” Darr near Freedom, Okla. She passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, in Oklahoma City, Okla., at the age of 86.

She married James Keith “Red” Conaway in the summer of 1951 in Chester, Okla. The couple raised their children in Waynoka, Okla. Ruby Lou worked many years as a cosmetologist. They moved to Amarillo, Texas, in 1971 after Red was transferred with Sante Fe Railroad.

In 1993 she moved back to Oklahoma to be near family and friends. Ruby Lou has resided in Cache, Okla., for the past eight years.

Survivors include son, Gary Conaway of Hydro, Okla.; daughter, Debbie Hoffman and husband Kirk of Lawton, Okla.; grandchildren, Kris Hoffman and wife Natasha of Lincoln, Neb., Kori Turner and husband Andee of Hinton, Okla., and Kimi Dahlenburg and husband Dallas of Hinton; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Velma King and Betty Ann Gray of Oklahoma City, Okla.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ruby Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Geoffrey and Ruth Darr; husband, J.K. “Red” Conaway; grandson, Jason Conaway; brothers, Jimmie and Johnnie Darr; and sister, Peggy Stephens.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations to the Caleb Spady Memorial Fund, 1107 N. BDWY St., Hinton, OK 73047

Service: 10 a.m. today, Jan. 5, 2011, First United Methodist Church, Hinton, Okla.

Officiating: Rev. Jennifer Long.

Graveside service: 2 p.m. today, Jan. 5, 2011, Waynoka Cemetery, Waynoka, Okla., under the direction of Turner Funeral Home, Hinton, Okla.
