Waynoka Cemetery


Funeral services for Betty June Bailey will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the Waynoka Church of God with Pastor Ken Higgins officiating. Interment will be in the Waynoka Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka, LLC.

Betty June Bailey, daughter of the late John Manley and Clara Marie (Lee) Calhoun, was born February 14, 1932, in Birmingham, Iowa, and passed away June 2, 2014, at Waynoka, Oklahoma, at the age of 82 years, 3 months, and 18 days.

Betty attended Roosevelt School in Fairfield, Iowa. On December 9, 1950, she was united in marriage to Richard Samuel Bailey at Fairfield, Iowa. They lived in Prescott, Arizona, before moving to Waynoka in 1994.

She was a member of the Waynoka Church of God. In her spare time, she enjoyed embroidery, needlework, crocheting, shopping for shoes and riding around and looking at the scenery. She was a very talented musician and loved playing her keyboard and ukelele. Spending time and visiting with friends and family were very important to her.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; one brother, John Manley Calhoun; and three sisters, Mildred Fitzwater, May Lee Sewart, and Ellen Louise Calhoun.

Betty is survived by three daughters, Linda Sue Grimes and husband, Leonard, of Pella, Iowa, Maryann Gilmore and husband, Dean, of Presoctt Valley, Arizona, and Betty Elaine Mayes of Waynoka; four grandchildren, Scott Grimes and wife, Angie, of Omaha, Nebraska, Brian Grimes of Pella, Iowa, Nicholas Gilmore and wife, Jenifer, of Prescott Valley, Arizona, and Michael Mayes of Waynoka; two brothers, Tom Calhoun of Fairfield, Iowa, and Don Calhoun and wife, June, of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Waynoka Church of God or Share Hospice.
