Waynoka Cemetery


Funeral services for Dorothy Lee Ashton will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 15, 2022, at the Alva First Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Ruwaldt officiating. Interment will be in the Waynoka Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. There will be a visitation with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Dorothy Lee Ashton, daughter of the late William Cary and Cora Rose (Corbin) Crusinbery, was born September 22, 1932, on the family farm in Woods County, Oklahoma, and passed away December 11, 2022, in Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 19 days.

Dorothy attended Twin Oaks School then attended Waynoka High School. On March 2, 1951, she was united in marriage to Paul Wayne Ashton at the First Christian Church in Alva, Oklahoma. She and Paul lived on a farm near where she was born and raised southeast of Waynoka where they farmed and ranched most of their lives.

Dorothy was baptized in the Waynoka First Baptist Church and later moved her membership to the Alva First Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, bowling and playing cards. She enjoyed baking and was known for having some of the best cinnamon rolls in the country.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; one daughter, Karen Tucker, one great grandson, Hunter Earl; one brother, Glen Crusinbery; and four sisters, Marjorie Hadley, Mildred Benson, Gladys Snyder, and Clara Boren; and a son-in-law, Robert McNally.

Dorothy is survived by two sons, Dennis Ashton and wife, Karen, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Terry Ashton and wife, Denise, of Waynoka; one daughter, Linda Earl and husband, Mike, of Collinsville, Oklahoma; one sister, Oleta Rodgers of Denver, Colorado; and a son-in-law, Mark Tucker of Kiowa, Kansas.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Barbara Baird and husband, Alan, of Pflugerville, Texas, Cole Ashton of Salt Lake City, Cally Ashton of Salt Lake City, Justin Ashton of Kingfisher, Tyler Ashton and wife, Devon, of Chester, Matthew Earl and wife, Brandy, of Sperry, and Stephen Earl and wife, Heather, of Collinsville; twelve great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Waynoka Cemetery or the Waynoka EMTs.
