July 23, 1952 - June 12, 2019

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Alva Wesleyan Church with Reverend John Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Vistitaion with family will be at Wharton Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, June 18, from 6-7:30 p.m. Online condolences may be made to http://www.whartonfuneralchapel.com.

David Leon, son of Doris Fern (McMurphy) and Louie Bindrum, was born July 23, 1952, in Alva, Oklahoma. He passed away June 12, 2019, in Enid, Oklahoma, at the age of 66 years, 10 months and 20 days.

He attended the Capron school system until its closing. He graduated from Alva High School with the class of 1970.

On February 14, 1970, David married Marilyn Wanger. To their marriage two children, Tonya and Bryan were born.

David worked for the City of Alva Water Department for a short time. In the early '80s he became an agricultural mechanic working for Eddie Kletke for many years. He also owned Dave's Mechanic Shop for a time and worked for Western Equipment.

He loved working on cars and had the opportunity to work on several local stock cars. He also enjoyed grilling, gardening and spending time with his family.

David was at times hard headed and stubborn but loved being ornery, playing pranks and joking with people.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mom, Catherine; his wife Marilyn; granddaughter, Sadie Rose; two sisters, Mary and Julie; and a brother Mike.

David is survived by his two children and their spouses, Tonya and John Weinhoffer and Bryan and Angie Bindrum; three grandchildren, Zachery and Connor Weinhoffer and Louie Bindrum; great grandson J.T. (John Tyler) Weinhoffer. He is also survived by two sisters, Judi Long and Jean (Cookie) Small; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
