Rachel Elizabeth McMurphy, 83, Freedom

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, on April 2, 2000; two brothers, Ivan Ratcliffe, and Richard Ratcliffe who died when he was 1; and one grandson, David Wilson.

Rachel is survived by one son, John McMurphy and his wife, Nancy, of Ames ; one daughter, Aleta Hettich and her husband, Cal, of Chandler, Ariz.; one brother, Joe Ratcliffe of Emily, Minn.; one sister, Pearl Washburn of Chatsworth, Calif.; and two sisters-in-law, Bernice Ratcliffe of New Castle, Ind., and Pearl McMurphy of rural Alva.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, A. J. Wilson, Rita Johnson and her husband, Steven, James McMurphy, Shannon McMurphy, and Michael McMurphy; Tasha Taylor and her husband, Robert, and Jeni Wilson and her husband, Daniel; six great grandchildren, Zachariah, Nathan, Jeremiah, and Macayla Taylor, and Talya and Cherree Wilson; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. June 13 at the Freedom School with Rev. Ron Olson and Rev. Mark Kinkle officiating. Interment will be in the Preston Hill Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Hepzibah Children's Home.
