Funeral services for Alpha Whiteneck, 23, will be held this morning at 10 o' clock at the Drunkard Church northwest of Carivoile.
Whiteneck, who disappeared from his home about 6 o'clock Tuesday evening, was the object of a day long search by neighbors and friends. His body was found hanging from a tree in a nearby pasture by Lennis Eberhart, about 5:30 Wednesday evening.
He is survived by his wife (Edna), his father, (John S. Whiteneck), 7 brothers and 3 sisters.
Alpha Lee Whiteneck was born on Jan. 2, 1914 at the home of his parents, John S. and Cora Lee Whiteneck, west of Aline, Okla. He was a delicate baby, but due to the watchful care of his mother, he grew to strength and health in childhood.
Death took mother from the home in 1922, thus the love and nurture which only a mother can give was deprived Alpha and the other small children of the home.
At the tender age of nine years, Alpha accepted Christ and was united with the Pleasant Plains Church of the Brethren. Growing to young manhood he was graduated from the Carmen High School in 1934 and later took work at Bethany training school in Chicago and McPherson College in Kansas.
After being employed at different work, Alpha decided to take up farming near his home southeast of Aline. On April 23, of this year he was united in marriage with Edna laura Johnson, who graced their home with the love and devotion of a faithful companion during the few bried months of their pilgrimage.
Alpha had a sunny disposition, good to his neighbors, always willing to lend a hand to old as well as young people and has a host of friends who will miss his cheery greetings and friendships.
Alpha departed this life on Sept. 5, 1939, at the age of 25 years, 8 months and 3 days.
Besides his mother, two borthers, Floyd and Ralph preceded him in death. He is survivied by his wife, father, four sisters and seven brothers and a host of relatives and friends.
