Alva – The funeral for Jessie Gladys Adams, 92, will be at 2 PM Friday at Wharton Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Bud Orrell, pastor of Hopeton Wesleyan Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Dacoma.

She was born December 7, 1902, southwest of Hopeton to Fred and Eliza Tanner Adams and died Tuesday, March 14, 1995, at Beadles Nursing Home in Alva. She attended the Alva Westside grade school, graduating from Alva high school and attended Northwestern State Teachers College where she earned a teacher's certificate. She taught in rural grade school and after she earned her bachelor of science degree, she taught in Oklahoma and Kansas area schools, retiring in 1965. She was a member of the Oklahoma Education Association and Kansas Education Association.

Surviving are nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by seven sisters and four brothers.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Northwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation.
