Lutheran Cemetery


The funeral for Nadine Marie Garrett Wiechman, 80, of Kiowa, Kan., formerly of Alva, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at Zion Lutheran Church, Alva. Pastor Mark Bersche will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Alva. Arrangements are by Marshall Funeral Home, Alva. The casket will not be open at the church.

She was born Sept. 1, 1929, in Lexington to Cecil and Jewell Boydstun Garrett and died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, in Kiowa.

She was a graduate of Lexington High School and became a certified nurse aide. She worked in various hospitals and nursing homes in the area.

She married Robert Lee Wiechman Oct. 2, 1960, in Derby, Kan. They made their home in northwestern Oklahoma and southern Kansas before moving to Alva in 1994. They had lived the past two years in Kiowa. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Alva.

Surviving are her husband, Robert, of Kiowa; three sons, Myron Wiechman of Manchester, Barry Wiechman of Winfield, Kan., and Thomas Wiechman of Rogers, Ark.; one daughter, Roberta Fischer of Kiowa; two brothers, Vernon Garrett of Lexington and Kenneth Garrett of Sulphur; one sister, Gayle Garrett of Norman; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Zion Lutheran Church.
