Margaretha Wagner Quast was born in the state of Michigan on March 31, 1867. She came with her parents to Kansas when she was a child. They located in Ellinwood, Kansas, and she spent her girlhood days there and was united with the Lutheran Church at the age of 16 years. She was married to William Quast November 3, 1887 at Ellinwood, Kansas. They made their home there, later moving to Oklahoma where they have lived for 32 years when Mr. Quast was called by death five years ago. She made this her home until the time of her death, which occurred at the home of her daughter Mrs. Clara Frieze of Alva, July 4, 1929 at 3:30 AM. She had been ill for the past year. November 17 she came to Alva to spend a few days with her daughter and son who were attending school. Her children advised her of staying close where she she could secure medical aid. During her long illness she was a faithful sufferer knowing her Lord was with her each day and what He did was done well.

She reached the age of 62 years, three months and four days. She leaves to mourn, six children, three sons and three daughters and one son dying in infancy. The children are Mrs. Clara Frieze, Alva; W. J. Quast, Mrs. Hulda Kunzman, Louie Quast, Mrs. Anna Mohs and Edward Quast, all of Capron; two grandchildren, Burton Frieze and Stella Kunzman; her aged mother 84 years of age, four brothers, four sisters and a host of friends.
