Lutheran Cemetery


Graveside services for Hilda Lieswald will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery with Pastor Aaron Wagner officiating. Interment is under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.
Hilda Lieswald, daughter of the late F. C. and Margretrita (Kahr) Peters, was born December 31, 1918, 3½ miles north of Okarche, in Kingfisher County, Oklahoma, and passed away April 21, 2012, at Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 93 years, 3 months and 21 days.
She graduated the 8th grade as Valedictorian at St. John's Lutheran School. She was a member of the quartet, Glee Club and mixed choirs. She also attended Okarche High School.
Hilda came to Alva in November, 1938 where she did domestic work for a number of families in and around Alva and Hardtner, Kansas. On May 25, 1940, she was united in marriage to Oscar Lieswald at Medicine Lodge, Kansas. She helped Oscar farm and ranch and helped maintain the machinery. They went custom harvesting for a number of years.
She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Paralized Veterans of Foreign Wars. She loved to fish, feed the birds and wild turkeys, and watch for deer to cross the fields.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar, on January 8, 2001; one daughter, Frances Rogers, one grandchild, four nephews, two nieces, and one great nephew.
Hilda is survived by one son, Gail Lieswald of Alva; two daughters, Felicia Lyon and husband, Phil, of Alva, and Frieda Shelite and husband, Lawrence, of Alva; one son-in- law, James Rogers, of Ardmore; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Zion Lutheran Church. Remembrances may be shared with the family at www.marshallfuneralhomes.com

Deceased: Oscar Harold Lieswald, 83, Alva

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Emmett, Earl, and Edgar Lieswald; two sisters, Alta Lieswald and Mabel Petermann; one great grandson; and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Lieswald.

Oscar is survived by his wife, Hilda, of Alva; one son, Gail Lieswald of Waynoka; three daughters, Frances Rogers and her husband, James, of Ardmore, Felicia Lyon and her husband, Phil, of Alva and Frieda Shelite and her husband, Lawrence, of Alva; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Jan. 11 at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Alva with Pastor Joel Picard officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Lutheran Hour or the Zion Lutheran Church.
