Memorial services for Dorothy Jo Taylor will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Timothy Roggow officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Dorothy Jo, daughter of the late Joseph Ray and Dorothy Louise (Rauh) Lansdown, was born August 1, 1951, at Alva, and passed away July 29, 2023, at Oklahoma City, at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 29 days.

Dorothy Jo was raised in Alva and graduated Alva High School with the Class of 1969. She went on to Northwestern Oklahoma State University where she obtained her B.S. in nursing. She was a nurse for many years and enjoyed her work. In the early 1970s, she was united in marriage to William Michael Taylor. To this union two sons were born: Jordan Wade and Jay William. After her marriage she lived in Tulsa for several years, returning to Alva in the mid-1980s where she has lived since.

She enjoyed cooking and collecting porcelain Hummel figurines. Her kids and grandkids were her life and she enjoyed attending all of their activities. She loved to shop and enjoyed going to the casino, eating out, and spending time with her special friend, Lannie Harth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Dorothy Lansdown.

Dorothy Jo is survived by her two sons, Jordan Taylor and wife, Sara, of Waynoka, and Jay Taylor and significant other, Tonya, of Alva; a special friend, Lannie Harth of Alva; her brother, Bill Lansdown and Ellen Kipp of Alva; her grandchildren, Coralette, Wolfgang, and Anaiese Taylor, all of Waynoka, and Brynlee Taylor of Alva; many other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to NWOSU Foundation for the Nursing Department or the Woods County Senior Citizen’s Center.
