Funeral service for Rex D. Bradt will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at First Christian Church, Freedom. Pastor Mark Kinkel officiating. Burial in Freedom Cemetery, Freedom, Okla. Arrangements by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.

Rex Dale, son of Opal (Weidman) and Jim Bradt was born May 3, 1933, west of Edith, Okla. He passed away at Beadles Nursing Home in Alva on the 12th day of December at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 9 days.

He attended grade school in Edith, Okla., and graduated from Freedom High School with the class of 1951.

He married Twila Castor July 25, 1951, in Buffalo, Okla. To their marriage four children, Jerrel, Annetta, Gary and Myron were born.

They made their home in Freedom and in 1952 they move to Felt, Okla. They returned to Freedom in 1957.

On July 11, 1969, he was married to Edythe Ailene Harris at Freedom Christian Church by the Rev. Edd Painter. Following their marriage they made their home in Freedom, where he was the first Fire Chief. He retired from Cargill after 11 years and worked on the salt flats for over 20 years. Edythe passed away on March 1, 2008.

In his spare time Rex enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Mr. Bradt was preceded in death by two sons, Jerrel and Myron, and his parents.

Rex is survived by his daughter and her husband, Annetta and Charles McIver of Spearman, Texas; a son an his wife, Gary and Teresa of Freedom, Okla.; a stepson and his wife, Darin and Denise Harris of Yukon, Okla.; and a daughter-in-law, Charlene Bradt of Alva; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Tabitha and Shane Justice, Jarrod and Jodie, Nicholas and Cara, all of Alva, and Lisa Bradt of Bronx, N.Y., Dawn Loomis of Amarillo, Texas, David and Rae Thompson of Oklahoma City, Ryan Pata, Christopher and Kelly and Kevin Harris, all of Yukon; five great-grandchildren, Braylon and Brickman Bradt, Cole and Chyenne Justice and Berrek Harris; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Freedom Fire Department or Freedom Senior Citizens.
