Sad Accident

Little Carrie Jenkins Accidentally Shot and Killed by Her Brother

Carrie, the six-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Jenkins, living two and one half mile south of Faulkner, was accidentally shot and instantly killed by her eight-year-old brother Tuesday morning, November 16. 1909. The mother was out milking and the father feeding the stock, the little girl was seated in a chair with a little baby in her lap, the brother playing with a gun which he did not know was loaded. The weapon was discharged, the entire charge striking the little girl in the forehead, killing her instantly. John Jenkins an uncle of the girl and J. T. Camron, were in to Renfrew's Furniture Company last night after a coffin for the little unfortunate. The funeral was held today at 2 PM and the remains interred in Ewings Cemetery. Such awful accidents fill all with grief and the bereaved parents have the sincere sympathy of all.
