Capron Cemetery


Kiowa, Kansas – The funeral for George B. Throckmorton, 95, will be at 11 AM Tuesday in the Capron United Methodist Church at Capron. The Rev. Carolyn Murrow will officiate. Burial will be in the Capron Cemetery under direction of Fisher Funeral Home, Kiowa, Kansas.

The casket will be open from 9 AM until 9 PM today at the funeral home.

He was born May 6, 1901, in Capron to Oscar F. and Cora L. Hopkins Throckmorton and died Saturday, November 30, 1996, at the Friendship Manor in Kiowa, Kansas. He was a farmer and a carpenter.

On November 28, 1928, he married Myrle A. "Sally" Wilcox in Alva. She died September 28, 1994.

He lived in Capron until 1985 when he moved to Burlington. He lived there until 1994, then moved to Kiowa. He was a member of the Capron United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Emil of Oklahoma City and George of Enid; one daughter, Bonita Somerhalder of Burlington; eight grandchildren; and eight great – grandchildren.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the church.
