Funeral services will be Friday, March 1, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Capron United Methodist Church with Reverend Janet Fitz, Pastor. Burial will follow in Capron Cemetery under the direction of Wharton Funeral Chapel. Online condolences may be made at http://www.whartonfuneralchapel.com.

Edgar Allen Schwerdtfeger was born on a farm northeast of Alva, Oklahoma, on March 17, 1929, the youngest son of Otto and Millie Schwerdtfeger and passed from this life on February 27, 2019, at Beadles Nursing Home in Alva at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 10 days.

He lived his entire life on County Road 460 within a half mile of where he was born.

Edgar attended Capron High School graduating in 1947.

Virginia Lee Morris became his wife on November 24, 1949. To this marriage two sons were born – Allen Lee and Leonard Eugene.

Early in his life he ran a mechanics shop and he farmed all his life. In August 2018 he joined his wife who is living at Beadles Nursing Home.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years Virginia; sons Allen and his wife Linda, and Leonard and his friend Kandee Alingren; grandchildren Jeff (Petie) Schwerdtfeger of Fredonia, Kansas; Kendal Schwerdtfeger and his friend Michelle Terwort of Park City, Kansas; and Mendy Appleton and her friend Sean O'Rourke of Copan, Oklahoma; step-grandchildren Tracy (Chris) Hannaford of Mustang and Kevin (Michelle) Jeffries of Alva; great-grandchildren Paige Byrd of Alva, Haiden Sides of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Lane and Cod Schwerdtfeger of Park City/BelAire, Kansas; and Dawson and Mason Appleton of Copan, Oklahoma; step-great-grandchildren Devon Hannaford of Boston, Massachusetts; Dustin (Brittany) and Dillon Hannaford of Mustang; Brayden and Brysen Jeffries of Alva, Brenen (Becky) Hankins of Jennings, Oklahoma; Breana (Caleb) Smith of Alva and step-great-great-grandchildren Skylar, Tatum, Kinsley and Madison Hannaford all of Mustang; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Preceding him in death were his parents and twin brothers Wesley and Wiley.

Memorial donations may be made to Beadles Nursing Home Activities Fund or the Capron Fire Department.

May 22, 1922 - October 17, 2019 Funeral services for Virginia Lee Schwerdtfeger will be Monday, October 21, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the Capron United Methodist Church with Rev. Janet Fitz, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Capron Cemetery. Wharton Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Family visitation will be today, October 20, 2019, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Chapel in Alva.

Virginia Lee, was born on a farm northwest of Capron, Oklahoma, on May 22, 1922, the first of five children born to Lela (Hardy) and Finis Morris, and passed from this life on October 17, 2019, at Beadles Nursing Home, Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 90 years. She was a Woods County resident all her life.

Virginia attended Capron School, graduating in 1947. On November 24, 1949, she married her high school sweetheart Edgar, and they lived northwest of Alva all their lives. To this marriage two sons were born – Allen Lee and Leonard Eugene. Virginia moved into Beadles Nursing Home in January 2017.

Virginia was a homemaker. She also worked at Jennies Drapery sewing curtains and enjoyed working the busy tax seasons at Prowers Tax Service for 20-plus years. She changed charts daily for City Service Pipeline for several years for $25 a month.

Preceding her in death are her husband Edgar, sister Marlyne Joan and brother Leland.

Survivors include her two sons, Allen Lee and wife Linda, and Leonard Eugene and friend Kandee Almgren; and one sister, Mary Lou Shoemaker. Grandchildren are: Jeff and Petie Schwerdtfeger (of Capron), Kendal Schwerdtfeger and his friend Michelle Terwort (of Park City, Kansas), and Mendy Appleton and her friend Sean O'Rourke (of Copan, Oklahoma). Step-grandchildren are: Tracy and Chris Hannaford (of Mustang, Oklahoma), and Kevin and Michelle Jeffries (of Alva).
