ENID — Graveside service for Joseph David Heaton, 88, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012, in Capron Cemetery. Arrangements by Marshall Funeral Home, Alva. He served was a sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. He was the industrial arts teacher at Alva schools. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one great grandson, Josten Dane Heaton. Joe is survived by three sons, Joseph, Gary, and Dan Duane Heaton; two brothers, Richard and Ronnie; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his longtime friend, Virginia Powell of Alva. Graveside services for Joseph David Heaton will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012, at the Capron Cemetery with Reverend Terry Martindale officiating. Interment is under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Joseph David Heaton, son of the late Joseph William and Gladys (McGill) Heaton, was born March 30, 1924, at Capron, Oklahoma, and passed away May 2, 2012, at Alva at the age of 88 years, 1 month, and 2 days. Joe graduated from Capron High School, received his Bachelor's Degree from Northwestern State College, and obtained his Master of Industrial Arts Degree from Colorado State University. He was united in marriage to Doris Eileen Bickel at Medicine Lodge, Kansas. He served as a sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1945. He was the Industrial Arts Teacher in the Alva Schools for over 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, reading, photography, motorcycling, and spending time with his grandsons and great grandsons. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one great grandson, Josten Dane Heaton. Joe is survived by three sons: Joseph Lynn Heaton and wife, DeeAnne, of Edmond; Gary Dale Heaton of Alva; and Dan Duane Heaton and wife, Karen, of Alva. Also surviving him are two brothers, Richard Heaton and Ronnie Heaton, both of Alva; four grandchildren, Andrew Heaton of Washington, D. C., Adam Heaton of Norman, Jeff Heaton and wife, Jaci, of Capron, and Derek Heaton and wife, Beth, of Alva; three great grandchildren, Jantz and Jayt Heaton of Capron and Cord Heaton of Alva; his long time friend, Virginia Powell of Alva; other relatives and many friends. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Share Convalescent Center or the Alva Education Foundation.
