Alva Cemetery


Alva – The funeral for Dorothy Mae Yoder, 85, will be at 10 AM Wednesday at Wharton Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. David Laverty, pastor of Alva First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Alva Municipal Cemetery.

She was born September 14, 1909, in Hazelton, Kansas, to Harry E. And Grace M. Springer Fox and died Monday, January 16, 1995, at her home. When she was a small child, her family moved to Alva. She attended the Alva Public School System and graduated from Alva High School in 1926. She attended Northwestern State Teachers College and then Stephens College. She helped her father operate the Fox Produce in Alva. She married Kenneth Nolan King Yoder March 9, 1940, at Miami, Florida. Following their marriage they lived in Florida for several months and then made their home in Alva. In December 1941, they moved to Los Angeles, California. In October 1976, they moved their home to Lahoma. She was a member of the Alva First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth of the home; two daughters, Grace Yoder and Salye Gorrell, both of Lahoma; two grandchildren and three great grandsons.

She was preceded in death by a brother.
