Belva Jean (Case) Wheeler, 90, passed away peacefully in Louisville, Kentucky, at the Episcopal Church Home with family by her side on July 7, 2017.

Belva and her husband Emerson Wheeler were married on January 16, 1946, until his death on May 30, 2006, and were lifetime members of the Alva Friends Church. While in Louisville, she regularly attended the St. Luke's Episcopal Chapel. Born in Lambert to Charlie and Leda Alwilda (Young) Case, Belva was on the basketball team at Lambert High School. She worked at South-Western Bell as a telephone operator for many years. She later attended Alva Beauty College and worked as a beautician, eventually becoming the owner-operator of Bel-Ra Beauty Rama originally started with Rachel Wheeler. Belva enjoyed traveling, camping, sewing and square dancing. She was a member and sponsor of the very popular and active Bel-Ra bowling team. More than anything, Belva enjoyed spending time with and taking long walks with her late husband. Belva enjoyed a long life with a wonderful reciprocal love with her family.

She is survived by her son Ronnie (Rebecca) Wheeler and daughter Trudy (Charles Barrett) Wheeler; sisters Elsie Maxine Boyer and Patricia Lou Bates; brothers Charles Case Jr. and Verlie D. (Von) Case; granddaughter Ashley Wheeler (Curt) Taylor; grandson Eric Wheeler (and partner Katie); grandchildren Zoe Claire McDonald and Creed Dylan Taylor; step-grandchildren George (Stephanie) Barrett, Charles B. (Heend Sheth) Barrett Jr., Maggie Barrett (Benton) Keith and international grandson Xianzhe "Steven" Zhou. She is also survived by her three Louisville great grandchildren and many other loving family members.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Emerson Elmer Wheeler, her sister Odessa Elwanda Strenge, brother Arlo Monfort Case and her dear friend Margaret "Pug" Trayer.

The family wishes to thank Dr. David Bybee, Dr. Jane Cornett of Louisville and the staff at the Episcopal Church Home for their professional and compassionate care for the past nine years. We would also like to thank Dr. Philip Self of Alva for his constant care during her life in Alva.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alva Friends Church or the Episcopal Church Home.
