Funeral services for Linda Carol Whitely will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at the Wharton Funeral Chapel in Alva with Rev. Drew Kirtley, pastor, Alva First Christian Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Alva Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Chapel.

Linda Carol, daughter of Phyllis (Myers) and George Hunter was born on August 19, 1943, in Mount Vernon, Ohio. She passed away on March 17, 2023, at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 26 days.

She graduated from Mount Vernon with the class of 1961. She attended Cincinnati Conservatory of music from 1961 to 1962 to continue her education of playing the violin.

Ms. Hunter was married to Jim Yoachum and to this union a son Cody was born. She married Darrell Dean Whitely in June of 1995 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and gained two more sons, Darren and Danny Whitely.

She worked as a nurse's assistant at Share Convalescent Home and at Farris's Dry Cleaners retiring with Darrell in 2007.

Linda enjoyed crocheting and even taught her granddaughter Ashlyn. She loved and enjoyed her two grandchildren, Dylan and Ashlyn and her dog Mattie.

She was preceded in death by her father George and husband, Darrell Dean in September 2016.

She is survived by three sons, Cody Yoachum of Oklahoma City, Darren and his wife Marisa of Alva, Oklahoma, and Danny Whitely of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two beloved grandchildren Dylan and Ashlyn; her mother Phyllis Ashton of Alva, Oklahoma; a brother Gary Hunter and wife Kandy of Michigan, and a number of nieces and other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alva First Christian Church Youth Group through Wharton Funeral Chapel.
