Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 10 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church with Rev. Donetta Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in the Alva Municipal Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at http://www.whartonfuneralchapel.com.

Leslie Duane was born September 28, 1948, to Bonnie Leone (Knabe) and Harold Leroy Whisman in Alva, Oklahoma. At the age of 5 he was blessed with a father, Wilbur Province, after the passing of his dad. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 26, 2021, at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 29 days.

He attended the Alva School System and graduated with the class of 1966.

November 24, 1967, he married Barbara Elaine Schenosky. To this marriage four children, Ammie Elaine, Adam Duane, Justin Dean, and Anita Raynae, were born.

Les was drafted into the United States Army on March 25, 1968. He served in Vietnam for 13 months and stayed in active duty until March 24, 1971. From there Les continued his service in the U.S. Army National Guard until 1993, proudly serving his country a total of 25 years.

After his time in active duty, Leslie brought his family back home to Alva. When he returned to Alva, Les went back to work for Max McAllister at Texaco Station who he worked for prior to being called to duty. He then went to work for the Ford Motor Company where he was certified as a line mechanic. He then went to work for the company he proudly retired from, Central National Bank of Alva where he retired in 2005 after 27 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, Adam Duane; his grandaughter, Dymon Justine; a sister, Winona Gale; his brothers, Leroy Province, Bob Whisman and Brette Province; sisters-in-law Linda Jane and Shirley Whisman and Margaret Province; and a brother-in-law, Doug Bowman.

Les is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara; his children, Ammie Buck, Justin and Crystal Whisman, Anita and Ethan Wharton; two adopted daughters, Amy Loftus and Diane McAlpin; 15 grandchildren, Dezmond, Noah, Byron and his wife Patience, Zariah, Zelaynah, Adam and his wife Emily, Jacob, Abigail, Darian, Drake, Devyn, Daylon, Demarkus, Dyce and Kayleigh; great granddaughter Kiah Lynn and great grandson Lukas; one brother, Ron Whisman; three sisters-in-law, Diana Whisman, Shelly Province and Rita Bowman, and his special sister Gail Jean; many loved and cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center.
