October 15, 1930 - November 17, 2019

Graveside services for Helen Venosdel will be 11 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2019, at the Alva Municipal Cemetery with Max Ridgeway officiating. Interment is under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Helen Evelyn Venosdel, daughter of the late Robert and Pearl Isabelle (Gilliland) Cox, was born October 15, 1930, at Hardtner, Kansas, and passed away November 17, 2019, at Kiowa, Kansas, at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 2 days.

Helen attended school at Horace Mann and graduated from Alva High School with the class of 1948. On June 1, 1955, she was united in marriage to Van Edward Venosdel at Raton, New Mexico. They lived in South Dakota for three years before making their home in Alva where they raised their children.

She was a member of the Grace and Faith Fellowship Church. Helen enjoyed painting, arts and crafts, reading and crocheting.

Besides her parents and her husband, Edward, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Cox; her sister, Eileen Tanata; and one great granddaughter, Baily Diann Lee.

She is survived by her son, Robert Venosdel of Alva; two daughters, Vanedda Barrows and husband Steve of Alva and Gerrie Miller of Alva; six grandchildren, Billy Lee, Casey Lee, Ryan Lee, Desiree Howland, Conor Miller, and Natalie Fuller, all of Alva; 21 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Grace and Faith Fellowship Church.
