ALVA, OK - Funeral service for Betty Jewel Stoner will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Alva Church of God. Rev. Bob Brown, Pastor, will officiate. Interment in Alva Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.

Betty Jewel, daughter of Wilma Fern (Baxter) and Lester LeRoy Barnes was born in Alva on April 9, 1941.

She passed away at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City on the 23rd day of September at the age of 72 years, 5 months and 14 days.

She attended the Alva School System, where she graduated with the class of 1959.

Miss Jewel was married to Stanley E. Stoner on June 2, 1959, at Alva First United Methodist Church. To their marriage two daughters, Brenda Kaye and Vicki Dawn, were born.

Following their marriage they made their home in Alva, where she worked for Anthony?s. Then they purchased the Singer Sewing Store and renamed it Alva Sewing center.

Later, they moved to a farm southwest of Alva. They did custom harvesting for over 30 years, as well as farmed and ranched. Betty also worked at the Share Medical Center Hospital for many years.

Mrs. Stoner was a member of Alva First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, on July 29, 2003, and her parents.

Betty is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Brenda and Richard Collier of Moore, and Vicki and Brent Jacobson of Tifton, Ga.; four grandchildren, Ashley and Dustin Malicoat, LaTasha Thrash and Kyle and Connor Jacobson; three great-grandchildren, Kylie, Alexis and Makalyn Malicoat; a sister and her husband, Bonnie and Verle Brady of Alva; sister-in law, Rowena Cox of Alva; an aunt, Rena Baxter; extended family member, Linda Benzel; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Contributions may be made in her memory to OMRF, heart division.
