Wanda Ellen Ailles Starner was born July 21, 1924, to Nancy Ann McCown and Royal Ailles. She died October 17, 2015, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

She attended school in Salina and Hutchinson, Kansas. She graduated from Hutchinson Beauty School when she was 16.

Wanda married William Starner in 1948. They had five children: William, Elizabeth, Wayne, Warren and Wilma. They moved to Alva in 1954 where she raised her children while working as a housekeeper for many Alva families and businesses including Northwestern Oklahoma State College.

Wanda and her mother, Ann Moore, moved to Texas where they lived for several years. Later, they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she lived until her death.

Wanda was a member of College Park Baptist Church for over 30 years, serving as a Sunday school teacher and member of several groups from the church. She was a lifelong Christian with a strong faith in God.

She was preceded in death by her mother and her sons, Wayne and Warren, and her grandson, Christopher Stockdale.

She is survived by her son, Bill, and daughters, Wilma and Elizabeth, her grandchildren Jason and Kirbi, Lisa and Darrin, Audra, Sarah and Damen, David, Mitchell, Teresa and Brent, Michael, Jeffrey and her great grandchildren Cassie, Alexis, Christopher, Merick, Zoey, and Benjamin.

Graveside services will be Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 1 p.m. at the Alva Municipal Cemetery . Wharton Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
