Alva Cemetery



March 21, 1907 - September 24, 1984

Alva – Gene L. Reiman, 77, died Monday, September 24, 1984, in an Alva hospital. His funeral will be at 2 PM Thursday in the Wharton Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Darrel Hardy, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Alva Municipal Cemetery.

Reiman was born March 31, 1907, at Byron, the son of Ida in Fred Reiman. In 1912, the family moved to Alva where he grew up and attended schools.

He and Josephine Cox were married at Cherokee. They made their home in Freedom for a short time, then moved to Alva. Reiman worked for the Golden Krust Bakery until entering the U.S. Navy in 1943, during World War II.

After the war he returned to Alva and worked for the bakery, later starting his own tile shop. He began work for the Colonial Furniture Store in 1962 and 10 years later went to work for the Barham Enterprises, making furniture until the plant closed.

Reiman was preceded in death by a son Don Dee Reiman in 1975, a grandson and two brothers.

Survivors are his wife, Josephine, of the home; a daughter, Betty Lou Reiman of Plainview, Texas; a son, Robert C Cox of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren, seven great – grandchildren, and a sister, Clara Dell Martin of Oklahoma City.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Heart fund, with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
