There will be no funeral service for Virginia Lee Reed, 72, of Alva, at her request. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.

She was born Dec. 29, 1933, in Cherokee to Bessie Litterell and Shirell Young and died Monday, June 26, 2006, at Alva Share Medical Center.

She attended Cherokee schools. She married Andrew Reed Nov. 29, 1949, in Fairview. They made their home on a farm west of Aline. They moved to Alva in 1950 where she worked in a café and did housekeeping, retiring in 1989. She was a member Jehovah’s Witnesses, Alva congregation.

Surviving are her husband, Andrew, of the home; two sons, Robert of Enid and Roger of St. Joseph, Mo.; three sisters, Martha Davenport, Georgia Daniels and Hazel Edmonds, all of Star City, Ark.; one brother, Lee Roy Young of North Little Rock, Ark.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, heart division.
