Interment will follow in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Leonard Max, son of the late Albert "Bud" and Faye (Wanger) Rose, was born January 8, 1947, at Alva, and passed away May 3, 2023, at Woodward, at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 26 days.

Max grew up in Alva where he graduated Alva High School with the Class of 1965. He attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University for two years before joining the National Guard, serving six years during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, he worked for Panhandle Eastern for 45 years and retired in 2012. On May 21, 1979, he was married to Mary J. Smith at Blackwell. Max and Mary raised their five children in Alva.

Max was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and was baptized there. He had a strong faith and believed in our Lord Jesus Christ. Some of his most rewarding and proud moments were seeing his children and grandchildren get baptized. Max was very proud of his grandchildren.

His greatest love was his kids, grandkids and great-grandchild. He was an avid sports fan, attending the grandkids' baseball games and other sporting events. Max loved to hunt and fish with his grandkids, always sharing many stories with them. He enjoyed camping with his wife and family and he also enjoyed the time he and Mary spent working in their wood shop or helping her with her craft projects. In recent years Max enjoyed going to the casino. Max lived a full life of laughter and love.

Besides his parents, Bud and Faye, he was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Smith; his brother, Lester Rose; and his parents-in-law, Johnnie and Doris Smith.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 44 years, Mary of Alva; four children, Max Rose and wife, Angela, of Alva, Chera Harrison and husband, J.K., of Granbury, Texas, Levi Rose of Alva, and Remington Rose of Alva; two brothers, DeWayne Rose and wife, Kathy, of Caney, Kansas, and Keith Rose and wife, Brenda, of Alva; ten grandchildren, KeEra Byrd and husband, Keyton, Karsten Harrison, Kaleigh Harrison, Dalton Rose, Aubrey Rose, Ellie Rose, Autumn Rose, Trell Rose, Riggen Rose, and Bristol Rose; one great grandchild, Knox Byrd; two special people, Beth Rose and Crystal Rose; many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Heart, Kidney, or Diabetes research.
