Funeral services for Roger Rhodes will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2023, at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel with Kevin Fields officiating. Interment will follow at the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. There will be a visitation with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. on Sunday evening.

Roger Raymond Rhodes, son of the late Raymond Walter and Leola Pearl (Holt) Rhodes, was born May 10, 1939, at his parents home in Alva, Oklahoma, and passed away June 29, 2023, at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 84 years, 1 month and 19 days.

Roger grew up in Alva and graduated from Alva High School with the Class of 1957. He was united in marriage to Gloria Jean Schwerdtfeger on June 5, 1960. To this marriage three children were born: Randall, Christine, and Colette. They raised their family in Alva. Roger worked for Del Brunstetter at his body shop until 1961 when he and his dad purchased the business, Alva Body and Fender. He retired from body work in 2020.

He was a member of the Barnes Street Church of Christ. Roger was a retired Volunteer Fireman. At a young age he enjoyed racing go-carts, painting, building model airplanes and flying them. Later in life, he enjoyed farming and raising cattle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Leola.

Roger is survived by his wife, Gloria, of Alva; his son Randall Rhodes and wife, Lari, of Alva; his daughters, Christine Harris of Enid, and Colette Hayden and husband, Charles, of Alva; seven grandchildren, Roger Hayden and C.C. Hayden, both of Alva, Devan Shahan and husband, Buddy, of Ponca City, Jordan McNaughton and husband, Brandon, of Enid, Rayden Rhodes, Ryland Rhodes, and Rhett Rhodes, all of Alva; and two great granddaughters, Avery Jo McNaughton and Caila Pierce Rhodes; his beloved dog, Remi, other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alva Volunteer Firefighter Fund.
