Dennis F. Nieman, 79, of Tuttle, died Monday, March 3, 2014 in Oklahoma City. The son of Clarence Harry and Myrtle Thelma (Chambers) Nieman, he was born June 18, 1934 in Woods County, Oklahoma.

He was employed as a machinist for Pennington Fabco. Dennis married LaVona Jean Murrow in Dacoma, Oklahoma on September 26, 1952. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching OU Women’s basketball. His greatest pleasure came from spending time with family and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Nieman; his infant twin siblings, Billy Dean and Lela Jean; and his brother-in-law, Edwin McMurphy.

He is survived by his wife, LaVona Nieman, of Tuttle; his two daughters, LaDonna Strasbaugh and her husband, Charles, Sulphur and Rena McDermott and her husband, Leslie, of Tuttle; his six grandchildren, Steve Strasbaugh and his wife, Patrice, of England, Don Strasbaugh of Marietta, Jill McGill and her husband, Mitch, of Sulphur, Bryan McDermott and his wife, Sheresa, of Tuttle, Casey McDermott and his wife, Gabrielle, of Norman, and Amanda McDermott of Mustang; his eight great grandchildren, Matthew, Ben, Nick, Curtis, Noah, Mallie, Marissa, and Quinn; his brother, Clifford Nieman and his wife, Lauresta, of Guthrie; his sister, Jane McMurphy of Sharon; and his sister-in-law, Yvonne Nieman of Alva; and many other loved ones and friends.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 7, 2014 at May Avenue Wesleyan Church in Oklahoma City. Burial will be at 3:30 P.M., Friday, March 7, 2014 at Alva Municipal Cemetery in Alva.
