Alva Cemetery


A graveside service for Vola Nicholson, 88, of Alva, will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2009, in Alva Municipal Cemetery. Bob Brown, pastor, will officiate. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.

She was born Dec. 21, 1920, west of Aline, to Edna Ola Walker and Ernest K. Veley, and died Feb. 25, 2009, in Beadles Nursing Home, Alva.

She attended Lone Star Rural Grade School and Dacoma High School. She married Leon Ralph June 30, 1941, in Alva. They lived on a farm south of Greensburg, Kan. They moved to Blackwell in 1950 and later returned to the farm. They moved to Alva in 1956. They worked at the Rialto Theater until their retirement in 1995.

She was a member of Alva Church of God.

Surviving are one son, Larry of Mancelona, Mich., three grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon, two sisters and seven brothers.
