Funeral services for Duane Thomas Nelson will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2018, at the Alva First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Wade Burleson and Rev. Dr. Carol Cook Moore officiating. Interment in the Alva Municipal Cemetery is under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Duane Thomas Nelson, 81, son of the late Thomas and Bessie Iva (Hart) Nelson, was born February 14, 1937, in Woods County, Oklahoma, and passed away November 30, 2018, at Enid.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alva First United Methodist Church.

Duane Thomas Nelson, son of the late Thomas and Bessie Iva (Hart) Nelson, was born February 14, 1937, in Woods County, Oklahoma, and passed away November 30, 2018, at Enid, Oklahoma, at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 17 days.

Duane attended Alva Schools. On October 9, 1965, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Brown in Scranton, North Dakota. They lived in the Alva area where he engaged in farming and ranching. He also sold trailers over a wide area.

He was a member of the Alva First United Methodist Church. Two of Duane's favorite hobbies were auctioneering and flying one of his airplanes.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Winona Puffinbarger.

Duane is survived by his wife, Jeanette, of Enid; three children, Douglas Duane Nelson and wife, Sheri, of Enid; Tamra Kay Martin and husband, Terry, of Enid; and JaWayne Hayes and husband, Joe, of Pond Creek; one brother, Forrest Nelson of Alva; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alva First United Methodist Church.
