Alva Cemetery

A visitation with family of Charles Nusser will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023, at Marshall Funeral Home. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva and a private family inurnment will be at a later date.

Charles Leroy Nusser, son of the late Charles Alvin and Ada Pearl (Morse) Nusser, was born June 30, 1942, at the Alva Hospital, now the Cherokee Strip Museum, and passed away September 21, 2023, at Alva, at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 22 days.

He was united in marriage to Judy Rae Nelson on July 10, 1960, at the Nelson home in Cherokee, Oklahoma. He was the last of nine siblings to leave this earth. He led his family through decades of working the land and loving his Lord Jesus Christ.

From the age of 16 until his retirement at 62, he custom harvested with his wife, children, and grandchildren throughout the wheat belt. His next endeavor was to own dirt with his son of Alva and raise cattle. All of his children and grandchildren worked with him for a time and were blessed to do so.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, of Alva; his children, Danny and Kelly Nusser of Canyon, Texas, Ronnie and Deliese Nusser of Wichita Falls, Texas, Charles Dean and Yvette Nusser of Alva, and Susan and Jim Keethler of Edmond; grandchildren, Deidra and Darren Stewart, Evie and T.J. Shriver, Emily Langley, Charlie and Taylor Nusser, Devin and Whitney Nusser, Blake and Casey Nusser, Dakota and Meredith Nusser, Jamison and Halah Nusser, Anna and Daveed Silue, J.C. Keethler, and Christian Keethler. Also surviving are 27 great grandchildren.

Charles was a man who cared for others. During his life he set up the rural water districts of Alva that now serve so many. He was also a big part of the American Agriculture Movement in 1979 at our nation's capitol. One of the highlights of recent years for Charles was a Nusser family reunion last year at Dacoma, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Zion Lutheran Church or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Heart research.
