ENID, Okla. — Funeral service for Loren Korell will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. There will be a visitation with the family from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Loren Korell, son of the late Henry and Marie (Koehler) Korell, 92, was born Oct. 17, 1920, on the farm east of Alva, and passed away Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, in Alva, Okla.

Loren attended Elm Dale School, graduated from Horace Mann High School, and attended Northwestern. He moved to Wichita to attend an aeronautical school, then began work at Boeing.

On Feb. 28, 1941, he was united in marriage to Jeane Hannon in Wichita.

He served in the 70th Infantry in the United States Army during World War II, fighting in France and Germany.

After the war, he returned to work at Boeing in Wichita as an air frame supervisor for 35 years.

After his mother died in 1976, he moved to Alva to help his father on the farm.

His wife, Jeane, passed away in 1979, and on Oct. 15, 1983, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Marie (Scripsick) Kongs in Alva.

He farmed and ranched in the Alva area while his health allowed, and was proud to be still on the tractor at age 86.

He was a member of Alva First United Methodist Church. He was also very active in Alva Senior Citizens, where he served as president over 20 years. He was also very active in the Boy Scouts of America and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Besides his parents, Loren was preceded in death by his wife, Jeane; his wife, Dorothy; and one son, Steven Korell.

Loren is survived by his son, Loren Korell and wife Linda of Denver, Colo., four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to a farming/ranching project in Mushayamunda Christian Development Foundation in Mushayamunda Village, Zimbabwe, Africa.

Alva Jean Korrell, 56, died Friday at her home east of here.

Mrs. Korrell was born on October 12, 1923, at Wichita, Kansas, to Dollie and Clarence (Chuck) Hannon.

She graduated from East high school, Wichita, in 1941 and married Loren M. Korrell on February 28, 1942, at her parents home there.

After their marriage, they made their home in Wichita and in August 1976 moved to a farm east of Alva.

Mrs. Korrell was a member of Alva First United Methodist Church and the Alva chapter of the Eastern Star. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at Alva Share Convalescent Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her parents – in – law.

She is survived by her husband, of the home; two sons, Loren and his wife, Linda, of Wichita, and Steve, Oklahoma City; a granddaughter, Kristen, and an aunt, Mildred Gaffney, Inglewood, California.

A service will be held at 10 AM Monday at Alva First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Raymond Cooley officiating.

The Alva chapter of the Eastern Star will perform graveside services. Interment will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery.

Wharton Funeral Chapel will handle the service.
