Alva Cemetery


The funeral for Kimberly Kay Koppitz Strait, 48, of Alva, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at First Baptist Church, Alva. The Rev. William S. Kalfas will officiate. Burial will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery . Arrangements are by Marshall Funeral Home , Alva.

She was born Jan. 5, 1960, in Alva, to Dick Koppitz and Peggy Seeger Mackey and died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, in Alva.

She grew up in Alva and graduated from Alva High School in 1978. She attended two years at Northwestern Oklahoma State University before attending business school in Oklahoma City. She lived in Moore, Oklahoma City and Nash before returning to Alva in 2000.

She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was an accomplished barrel racer, winning a saddle for her showmanship at a young age. She was selected Waynoka Rodeo Queen in 1969.

She married Lewis Ogle and later married Ed Strait.

Surviving are one son, Logan Ogle of Alva; her father, Dick Koppitz of Hardtner, Kan.; her mother and stepfather, Peggy and Lee Mackey of Alva; one stepbrother, Mike Mackey of Alva; three stepsisters, Lynda Culbertson of Dallas, Marcia Martin of Alva, and Dana Foote of New Mexico.

She was preceded in death by both husbands, Lewis and Ed.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for heart or cancer research or Creature Concerns.
