Lawrence M. Kinney, 88, Arkansas City, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Lois of the home; two sons and their families Bob and Anne Kinney of Albuquerque, N.M., Don Kinney of Arkansas City, Kan.; three grandchildren, Bill and Michelle Kinney of Albuquerque, N.M. and Jennifer Kinney of St. Thomas U.S. Virgin Islands; a sister-in-law and her husband Erl Lene and Joe Bozzacco of Youngstown, Ohio, and other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of the donor's choice.

Graveside services are scheduled at the Alva Municipal Cemetery on Dec. 26, 2 p.m., with Bob Reneau performing the Eulogy. Burial will follow with Wharton Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.

ENID - The graveside service for Lois Elaine Kinney, 95, of Alva, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, in Alva Municipal Cemetery. She was cremated at her request. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.

She was born Dec. 18, 1914, in Cameron, Mo., to May Shelly and Joe B. Cline and died Friday, March 5, 2010.

She moved with her family to Alva in 1930, where she graduated from Alva High School in 1932.

She married Lawrence M. Kinney March 8, 1934, in Alva, where they lived before moving to Cherokee in 1945, where they managed the A.C. Houston Lumber Co. She also helped organize the Fidelis Sunday school class at First United Methodist Church. For several years she and her husband drove dialysis patients to Wichita for treatment or doctors appointments, as well as to and from Wichita and Newton for air and train travel.

In 1958, they went to Arkansas City, Kan., for A.C. Houston Lumber Co. until it closed. They also were co-owners of Kinney's Self Service Laundry and Dry Cleaners and the E-Z Way Laundry in Arkansas City. She retired in 1985. He died Dec. 21, 2001.

Surviving are two sons, Bob of Sandia Park, N.M., and Don of Arkansas City; one sister, Erl Lene Bozzaco of Boardman, Ohio; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.


In addition to her husband, Lawrence, she was preceded in death by one sister.
