Funeral Services for Mary E. Joseph, 89, will be in the Alva First United Methodist Church, Friday, March 4, 2005 at 2 p.m. with Rev. J. Weegie William, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Alva Municipal Cemetery. Wharton Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may by made online at www.whartonfuneralchapel.com Mary Elizabeth, daughter of Emma Louise (Briesing) and Wade Hampton Poe was born on January 27, 1916 at Newton, Kansas. She passed away at the Alva Share Medical Center on the 1st of March at the age of 89 years, 1 month, and 4 days.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her two stepsisters, Jeannine Thieme and Norma Kline and her best friend, Lorene Rust.

Mary is survived by her two step daughters, Linda Lou Joseph of Alva, and Jolene Fay Huffaker of Oklahoma City; a step son, Tom Joseph of Enid, Oklahoma; two step grandsons, Jeff Joseph and Cole Huffaker; and a step sister, Lois Bratton of Kiowa, Kansas.

She was considered an aunt by her adopted Rust family. They include Lois of Alva, Kay Gamallo of Sand Springs, David Gannon of Oklahoma City, Barbara Blevins of Enid, Vicki Mednick of Freehold, New Jersey, Phil Rust of Winfield, Kansas, and Jana Schnebel of Enid, two good friends: Arlene Hada and Beulah Lehl of Alva, as well as other relatives and friends. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Stain Glass Windows at the First United Methodist Church or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
