Alva Cemetery


Alva – Services for Stella H. Ingels, 94, who died Thursday in an Alva hospital, will be at 2 PM Monday in the Wharton Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Darrel Hardy, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Alva Municipal Cemetery.

Mrs. Ingels was born in Vernon County, Missouri, November 13, 1889, the daughter of Mosie Ellen and James H. Hickman. In 1898, the family moved southwest of Alva, to the Goshen community where she attended school.

She and William Albert Ingels were married February 9, 1908, in the home of her parents. They made their home in Alva until moving to Renton, Washington, the following year.

Her husband died June 23, 1913, and the next year she returned to Alva. At the time of her retirement, she was a chef at Northwestern Oklahoma State University cafeteria.

Mrs. Ingels was a member of the Alva First United Methodist Church, the UMW and the Alva Chapter Order of Eastern Star, where she had received her 50 – year pin.

She is survived by a daughter, Ethel (Mrs. Jim) Fleming, Nickerson, Kansas, a son, George Ingels, five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Alta Smith, Dacoma. She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Memorials may be made to the Alva First United Methodist Church or the Share Medical Center, either directly or through the funeral home.
