The funeral for Richard Charles Herridge, 71, of Alva, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Alva. The Rev. Sean Evans will officiate. Burial will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.

He was born July 5, 1935, in Anthony, Kan., to Dick and Vee Mor-witz Herridge and died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006.

He attended school in Bluff City, Kan., graduating in 1953. He enlisted in the Air Force and served until 1957.

He married Violet Thompson Sept. 1, 1957, in Wilson. They lived in Anthony, moving to Alva in 1968. He was a member of Alva First Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife Violet, of the home; two daughters, Teresa Kennedy of Ardmore and Diane Penner of Dacoma; one sister, Karen Burkett of Cald-well, Kan.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter.

Memorials may be made to Alva High School athletic department.
