The funeral for Nevin R. “Jack” Graham, 83, of Jenks, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Alva. The Rev. Terry Martindale will officiate.
Burial will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.

He was born April 8, 1923, on a farm west of Alva to Ward Neil and Fanny Alma Salsman Graham and died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, at his home.

He attended Star rural grade school, graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1941 and attended Northwestern State College. He enlisted in the Army Jan. 27, 1943, and served in Europe during World War II with Company B 782nd Tank Battalion under the command of Gen. George Patton. He was discharged Feb. 5, 1946, at Camp Chaffee, Ark. He was recalled to the Army during the Korean conflict.

He married Maxie Taylor Allin Aug. 24, 1947, in Alva. She died March 16, 1985, in Tulsa. They lived in Alva where he worked for Zenith Gas System. In 1948, they moved to Waynoka and returned to Alva in 1949. In 1970, he was transferred to Woodward by Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. and in 1972 went to Tulsa, where he retired.

He married Betty Waul July 29, 1986, in Tulsa. They made their home in Jenks.

He was a member of Alva First United Methodist Church, past master of Alva Masonic Lodge 105 and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and was a retired Alva volunteer firefighter.

Surviving are his wife, Betty of the home; three daughters, Susan Krause of Forked River, N.J., Ann Kline of Alva and Jane Bookout of Tulsa; two stepchildren, Marcia Allen and Gary Waul, both of Tulsa; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother. Memorials may be made to The Good Shepard Hospice of Tulsa.
