Gracie Tillie, daughter of Tillie Edith (Bittner) and Forrest Ivan Brewer, was born June 9, 1936, in Alva. She passed away suddenly at her home in Alva at the age of 76 years and 19 days.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at the College Hill Church of Christ in Alva. Interment will be at the Alva Municipal Cemetery at a later date. Wharton Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be made online at www.whartonfuneralchapel.com
Gracie attended the Alva Public School System. On June 10, 1951 Miss Brewer was married to Edward Golbek Jr. at the Alva Church of God. To their marriage four children – Deborah Ann, Forrest Edward, David Andrew and Steven Randall – were born. Following their marriage they made their home in Alva where she worked as a housekeeper at the hospital and at several restaurants as a waitress.
Gracie was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was good about always sending cards and keeping in touch with family and friends. She was a member of the College Hill Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Deborah Ann, her parents and her brother Rodney.
Mrs. Golbek is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Ed; three sons, Forrest, David and Steven; thirteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Betty Riggins, Eva and her husband John Mcree, Nancy West and Carolyn and her husband Gerald Brown; and one brother-in-law John Golbek.
