Death Calls Mrs. J. M. Free

Pioneer Citizen Dies at Fort Worth

Word of the death of Mrs. J. M. Free, pioneer Alva citizen, Wednesday night at Ft. worth, Texas, was received here today by relatives.

The body will arrive here at 1 PM Friday over the Rock Island lines. Funeral services will be held at 4 PM at the Rice funeral home. Services will be conducted by Rev. J. T. Wheeler, pastor of the First Christian church. Burial will be made in the A. O. U. W. Cemetery.

Mrs. Free left Alva about a year ago to live with a daughter at Ft. Worth following the death of her husband, J. M. Free.

She was a sister of Noah W. Reid, of Alva, and was widely known here, having lived in the city for many years.

Millie E. Reid was born February 8, 1860 at Shelby County, Illinois, and passed from this life to July 17, 1929, at the age of 69 years, five months and nine days. She was united in marriage to Joseph M. Free, October 19, 1879 at Shelbyville, Illinois. To this union were born four children, two dying in infancy, the surviving children are, Mrs. Addie Yont, Fort Worth, Texas, and Walter Free. The other relatives are two sisters, Mrs. Ella Henoch, of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Laura Long of Los Angeles, California, and three brothers, N. W. Reid of Alva, Joseph Reid of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and L. E. Reid of Los Angeles, two grandchildren, Joe Free of Freedom and Mrs. Irene McAllister of Alva, one great grandson of Alva, also a host of relatives and friends.

Since her husband's death she had resided at Fort Worth with her daughter, Mrs. Yount.

Mrs. Free was one of the pioneer citizens of Alva. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. T. Wheeler, minister of the First Christian church at Rice Funeral Home, Friday afternoon and interment was in the A. O. U. W. Cemetery of Alva, Oklahoma.
