Funeral services for Ruby Ann Cummings will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September, 1, 2012, at the Alva Assembly of God Church with Pastor Will Jenkins officiating. Interment will be in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Ruby Ann Cummings, daughter of the late Leonard Glen and Lillie (Fisher) Gum, was born October 4, 1923, in Woods County, Oklahoma, and passed away August 29, 2012, at Enid, Oklahoma, at the age of 88 years, 10 months, and 25 days.

Ruby attended the Mount Vernon School and Beeches Beauty College. On October 28, 1939, she was united in marriage to Richard H. Cummings. She lived in Alva where she worked as a hairdresser over 50 years before retiring in 2009.

She was a member of the Alva Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, painting, and working with an embroidery machine.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; two brothers, Arthur Gum, and Gilbert Gum; and one sister, Louise Quinn.

Ruby is survived by one son, John Cummings of Enid; three daughters, Katherine Burnett and husband, Larry, of Gage, Georgia Payton of Alva, and Charlene Adams and husband, John, of Edmond; six grandchildren, Bryce Burnett and wife, Stacy, of Woodward, Scot Burnett of Woodward, Rick Adams of Alva, Tina Mangham and husband, Tim, of Piedmont, Brandon Adams and wife, Julie, of Choctaw, and Jay Adams of Oklahoma City; eight great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Ruby Gum of Enid; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Kidney disease research.
