Death claims County pioneer

Rites Wednesday for J. T. Camron

James Taylor Camron, 69 – year – old Woods County pioneer, passed away early Monday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Paul Butler, at Wichita, Kansas.

Funeral services for Mr. Camron will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday at the Fowitz Mortuary, here. Burial will be made in the A. O. U. W. cemetery.

He is survived by a son, Rex Camron, a member of the city fire department, and Mrs. Butler.

Mr. Camron came to Woods County in the early days after the opening of the Cherokee Strip and for several years lived on a farm near Faulkner. He later moved to Alva.

James Taylor Camron was born November 4, 1859 at Troy, Iowa, passed away September 16, at Wichita, Kansas, age 69 years, 10 months and 12 days.

He was United in marriage to Peachie Porter, April 3, 1888 at West Grove, Iowa. Mrs. Camron passed away October 6, 1914 and was laid to rest in the Faulkner Cemetery, a son George Maxwell Camron also passed away, in April, 1922.

Mr. Camron was again united in marriage to Mrs. Mary A. Stone of Humeston, Iowa, August 4, 1921. She passed away in 1922. Mr. Camron was a member of the Presbyterian church and also a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He located in Woods County in 1901 near Faulkner, and moved to Iowa in 1915. Since the first of last May he has made his home with his daughter Mrs. Carl Butler of Wichita, Kansas, where he passed away last Monday morning.

The surviving members of Mr. Camron's family are Mrs. Carl Butler of Wichita, and a son Rex Camron, of Alva, and three grandchildren, Wayne, Dorothy, and Margie.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. T. Wheeler, minister of the First Christian Church at the Fowitz Mortuary Wednesday afternoon. Interment was made in the A. O. U. W. Cemetery at Alva.
